Tasty Pineapple Juice Recipe To Improve Sleep

Tasty Pineapple Juice Recipe To Improve Sleep

Pineapples really are magic. These extraordinary fruits aren’t just amazing to look at. They are fantastic for our health too.

Native to South America, the pineapple has a fascinating history. As a crop, pineapples have a thousand-year history. They were cultivated by the Mayas and the Aztecs, and by the fifteenth century, they had become a staple all over the South American continent.

It seems that people have been aware of the benefits of eating pineapple for a very long time. Whether you are drinking pineapple juice before bed or grilling up some sliced pineapples on your barbeque for a sweet dessert, it’s such a healthy thing to have in your diet.

This Gold'n Greens Juice from Little West is just fantastic. Pineapple, Fuji apple, cucumber, kale, dandelion, turmeric, lemon, and mint all combine to create a juice that is as flavourful as it is nutritious.

And pineapple is all part of that power. So, without further ado, here is a recipe for you to try your hand at making your own fresh pineapple juice along with some of the health benefits pineapple can provide.

Pineapple Juice Recipe

Pineapple Juice Recipe

So we know that not everybody has a juicer, which is why we’ve got a tasty pineapple juice recipe for you that can be made in a blender too!

First things first, you’ve got to pick the right pineapple! For the most delicious juice, you ideally want the ripest fruit. The best way to check this is by looking at the “eyes” on the skin, the larger they are, the riper the fruit. You can also give your fruit a little squeeze to make sure there’s a little bit of give - this is a tell-tale sign of ripeness!

Ingredients

  • 1 x Medium Sized Fresh Pineapple
  • 2 x Tbsps Sugar
  • 1 x Juice of ½ a lemon
  • 1 x Cup of Water

Method

Peel the pineapple and chop it up into chunks, then add it into your blender or juicer followed by the sugar. Pour in your lemon juice and water into the mix and blend/juice away!

If you prefer juice that doesn’t contain any bits, you can use a very fine strainer to get rid of all of the pulp. Then, hey presto, serve over ice!

Improved Sleep

pineapple juice help to improve sleep

Yep, that’s right. Those prickly tropical fruits can help you get the rest you deserve at night. How is that possible? Well, pineapples contain melatonin.

Melatonin is a really important hormone that helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle.

Melatonin is strongly associated with the circadian rhythm in our bodies. That’s why lots of people take melatonin supplements to help with disorders like insomnia.

Studies have suggested that consuming pineapples can help raise the melatonin levels in your blood and thus improve your sleep. It’s no wonder, then, that people have taken to drinking pineapple juice before bed.

So grab a bottle of Gold’n Greens and say hello to a night of blissful rest.

Rich in nutrients

Pineapples are just so rich in nutrients. Eating pineapple will give you lots of manganese. Manganese is really important for helping form connective tissues in the body, as well as a whole host of other things: including bone health and calcium absorption.

So drinking pineapple juice before bed won’t just improve your sleep, it’ll be working away in your body in all sorts of wonderful ways.

Immunity Boost

Pineapples are full of an enzyme called bromelain. And some studies have shown that bromelain may well help support the immune system.

Bromelain also helps create substances that help the body fight pain and swelling, meaning that when you are eating pineapple, you are also eating a kind of flavourful anti-inflammatory! It’s nature’s pain killer. And it tastes great.

Improved Digestion

And the enzyme benefits don’t end there. When you are eating pineapple you are consuming enzymes that break down proteins. These proteins can then be absorbed by the gut more efficiently.

Eating pineapple can be especially helpful for those with pancreas issues. Pineapple can help replace the enzymes that might not be being produced by your pancreas.

So when you’ve had that big filling dinner, why not finish it off by drinking pineapple juice before bed? Your gut sure will be grateful!

Vitamins

Vitamins in Pineapple

Eating pineapple means consuming a whole bunch of important vitamins. For one, vitamin B6. B6 is a very important vitamin that the body can’t create by itself. So it needs to be consumed. And what tastier way of consuming it than by eating pineapple?

B6 helps fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism and has also been associated with benefits as wide ranging as treating anemia, to treating nausea during pregnancy.

Other great vitamins like K and C are also big components of pineapples. It really is a vitamin feast!
